Fury in "best shape yet" for Usyk fight, but still won't have weight advantage

Fury has not fought in 18 months, but is confident he will be victorious.

Tyson Fury entered Fury vs Usyk fight week much leaner than when he faced Francis Ngannou, but he'll still hold a significant weight advantage. Fury weighed a career-high 277 pounds in ESPN's 2021 Fight of the Year, an 11th-round KO of Wilder in a hellacious slugfest. Fury tipped the scales at 264.8 pounds at Friday's weigh-in ahead of Saturday's heavyweight title defense vs. Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk, meanwhile, weighed in at 221.5 pounds.

Fury has not fought in 18 months and has not beaten an opponent with a winning record since 2009

Despite the weight advantage, Fury is not taking Usyk lightly. The Ukrainian is a former undisputed cruiserweight champion and has won all three of his fights at heavyweight. Fury said he expects a "tough fight" but is confident he will be victorious. "I'm in the best shape of my life," Fury said. "I'm ready for this fight. I'm going to win this fight."
